EATING ORGANIC                              S

 

What is organic food?  What makes a product organic? And why should I eat organic?  This workshop will serve as a basic introduction to organic foods in comparison to conventional foods.  It will also make attendants aware of the process surrounding conventional foods and the way in which they are manufactured and delivered to you. 

 

 

BREASTFEEDING:                   W/PD

 

Breastfeeding is all natural and beneficial to both the mother and child/children. While sometimes a time consuming method for mothers on the go, this workshop will be an informational on promoting breastfeeding. The benefits of breastfeeding, the facts and research that prove the benefits, how to breastfeed and answers to your questions.

 

LAMAZE                               W

 

Lamaze is understood to be one of the oldest techniques in childbirth preparation.  These techniques condition mothers, through training to replace unproductive laboring efforts with the more profitable laboring.  Lamaze places emphasizes on relaxation and breathing as a way to relax during labor and delivery.  Here we will learn the basics and where to go to register for classes. 

 
OPTIONS IN HEALTHCARE         PD

 

Options in health care will offer you basic information about services available from government programs to medical insurance available to birth and provide for your child and family. 

 

HEALTH AND NUTRUITION        S

 

What can I eat, and how much of it should I eat?  As your baby continues to grow inside, you want to monitor what foods you eat and the conditions that you keep your body in; to aid in ensuring the health of your baby.  At this workshop come learn info on staying healthy and nutritious!

 

OPTIONS IN CHILDBIRTH          PD

 

While you may have given consideration for only delivering in the hospital, there are other methods such as home delivery and birth centers. Learn the pros and cons of each.

 

DEALING WITH POSTPARTUM      L

 

Learn information on postpartum distress, depression, hemorraging and staying active and alert after the baby.  The how to’s on dealing with this time after the child is born.

EARLY EDUCATION                   W 


Learn and discuss programs that promote school readiness by providing children with the early education and necessary steps for children to begin school ready to learn. Also gain understanding of pre school programs that can be extremely beneficial to your young child.

 

DRIVING/CAR SAFETY                W

 

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among children ages 2 to 14, due in large part to the nonuse or improper use of child seats and seat belts. With a new addition to the family The World’s Largest Baby Shower has a goal through this workshop to ensure every child is properly secured and safe every trip, every time.

 


EXERCISE & WEIGHT LOSS           W

 

It is important for a woman to have weight loss after pregnancy for a lot of important reasons. Of course, it is not advisable to do this immediately after giving birth. It is important to take some time to heal, regain strength and be well-rested. Exercise is also important for both mother and baby. Aside from ensuring baby's proper nutrition and development, exercise can also help a mother get back into mental and physical shape.

 

                      

HOMESCHOOLING                       PD

 

                        Parents and advocates explore why homeschooling can be a healthier option for children and families than a traditional classroom setting. We also explore the ups and downs, ins and outs; homeschooling issues in general, educational thoughts, family issues, and some other random good stuff.

 

RETURNING TO WORK                           L

 

With a large percentage of women working outside of the home today, many mothers leave their small children with a baby sitter or in a day care situation. Some women choose to work outside of the home, while others must do so in order to support themselves or supplement the income of their spouse. Returning to work, however, can be an emotionally exhausting experience. Get some tips and advice on what to do in returning to work.
